CLEARink Displays Inc. is looking for a Waveform & Device Development Engineer with a passion for development and commercialization of cutting edge display technologies. This position will work on optimizing drive waveforms for electrophoretic displays at CLEARink. The candidate will work closely with Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, Scientists and Physicists. You will organize and schedule work programs with Sr. Electro-Optical Engineer.

Responsibilities

CLEARink will rely heavily on the candidate as a key member of a cross-functional team with members skilled in optics and materials to develop and understand the relationship between waveform characteristics and CLEARink display performance. Additional responsibilities include:

• Develop drive waveforms for CLEARink Displays.
• Study drive waveform interactions with device operation and materials.
• Perform electro-optical measurements on incoming samples.
• Interpret measurements and derive basic properties of the samples.
• Synthesize a waveform through repetitive optimization, resulting in error-free operation of the sample.
• Assist in process and development with R&D team.
• Assist in executing and interpreting process/product reliability testing.
• Assist in QA activities.
• Communicate with internal and external groups for timely delivery of samples; software and/or hardware.
• Work with suppliers for prototype design, evaluation and testing.
• Provide data and work with Hardware and Software display development teams.

Job Summary

CLEARink Displays Inc. is seeking a Display Firmware/Software Engineer with a passion for development of cutting edge display technologies to lead the development of firmware and software required to optimize performance of our reflective display modules. Working closely with the Device Engineering and R&D teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, optimization, and implementation of firmware to drive our displays at optimal performance. In addition, he/she will be responsible for writing software required to create working prototype devices and developer kits, and work with the technical teams to develop custom optical and reliability test software as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver firmware/software solutions in support of display device prototypes and developer kits utilizing a structured, documented software development process and generally accepted software engineering methods.
• Develop firmware from drivers to applications.
• Develop user interfaces for consumers to interact with our hardware.
• Support display panel drive waveform development.
• Assist technical teams in the development of optical and reliability test systems and protocol.
• Provide detailed input to Device Engineering team members regarding the technical feasibility of proposed designs, technical risks, and potential mitigation strategies.
• Translate customer and system requirements to detailed firmware requirements, design, and test protocols for mobile device products incorporating CLEARink display modules.
• Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
• Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
• Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; investigating problem areas.
• Protect intellectual property by keeping information confidential.

Key Qualifications

• 5 plus years of experience in software development with a distinguished track record for technically demanding projects.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills and hands-on development experience for embedded device using Eclipse IDE and Windows PC platform for test application using MS Visual C++.
• Expert code and hardware level debugging skills (know your way around dev tools, oscilloscope and logic analyzers).
• Experience optimizing and characterizing hardware power consumption.
• Ability to go from a display panel data sheet, to wiring serial connections, to working code.
• Delivers within timelines based on high quality and sustainable results.
• Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication and documentation skills.
• A self-motivated team player able to accommodate the time zone difference to work with teams in Taiwan and China.
• Travel to Taiwan and China as needed.

Job Summary

CLEARink Displays Inc. is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Designer with a passion for development and commercialization of cutting edge display technologies to design and develop display prototypes, custom lab scale prototype and test equipment, and assist with facility planning, expansion, and support at CLEARink. Working closely with the VP Engineering and Operations and the Director of Process Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical design of display modules and demonstrator devices, design of lab scale prototype jigs and test fixtures, and managing the fabrication through local partners/suppliers.

Responsibilities

We will rely heavily on the candidate as a key member of a cross-functional team to provide mechanical design and documentation support to the engineering team in Fremont and occasional support to the R&D team in Vancouver. Additional responsibilities include:

• 3D modeling and design for all display panel assemblies, mechanical fixtures, enclosures, test jigs, etc.
• Provide 3D modelling support to R&D in support of optics designs and display module layouts.
• Design and build show-quality display demonstrators for potential customer demonstrations.
• Design and build of test and prototype assembly jigs and fixtures.
• Specification and procurement of components.
• Create and maintain basic ECR and document control system.
• Complete documentation for all mechanical components.
• Assist with creation and documentation of product and process specifications.
• Hands-on assembly of new demonstrators, jigs, fixtures, etc. as needed.
• Assist with installation and start-up of new equipment.
• Support for equipment start-up, debug, and qualification.
• Prepare and update equipment operation and maintenance procedures.

Key Qualifications

• Experience with design and assembly of electro-mechanical devices and systems.
• Experience with vacuum systems, mechanical systems and working with electronics.
• Proficiency with CAD software, preferably Solidworks and AutoCAD.
• Ability to write operational and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work with teams, good communication skills.
• Degree in a Mechanical Design plus a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience.
• Experience with mechanical equipment design using Solidworks including tolerance studies and design for manufacturing.

In addition, you will serve as the focal point between internal and external teams and manage all activities necessary to develop and qualify an integrated ink system from initial concept to commercialization of final product.

• Develop methods to evaluate current ink formulations so that our fundamental understanding is increased.
• Understand the relationship between drive waveform, material response, stack structure, and optical response.
