Dr Martin De Prycker is a member of the board of directors of several companies (www.newtec.eu, www.anteryon.com, www.caliopa.com, www.IBBT.be, www.track4C.be, www.venturespirit.com) and is giving advice to a large number of companies with respect to their Innovation Strategy and execution.
From 2009 he was CEO of Caliopa, a startup in silicon photonics that was acquired by Huawei in September 2013. Between 2002 and 2009, he was CEO of Barco, a worldwide technology leading company, where he reoriented the company towards growth in professional video and image processing. Prior to that he had several positions at Alcatel: from 1982 to 1996 he held a number of technology management positions at Alcatel and from 1996 to 2000 he was president of the Internet Access Division. Under his leadership Alcatel became world leader in the broadband access market, especially in the DSL market space. In 2000 he became CTO of Alcatel and member of the Executive Committee in Paris.
Dr De Prycker holds a Ph.D. in computer sciences and an M.Sc. in Electronics and an M. SC. in computer sciences from UGhent as well as an MBA from the University of Antwerp. From 1988 to 1992 he lectured part-time at Boston University and from 1994 until today at the University of Ghent. In 1991 he was the first to write a book on ATM “Asynchronous Transfer Mode”, which became a best seller with more than 100.000 sold and translated in 4 languages.
